AUSTIN, Texas – The 20th-ranked Oklahoma women’s golf team climbed three spots in the final round of The Betsy Rawls on Tuesday to tie for ninth place. The Sooners shot 21-over 309 to finish with a 54-hole score of 905 (+41) at the par-72, 6,491-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
OU fought windy conditions that impacted all 15 teams, as 14 schools shot at least 10-over in Tuesday’s round. Host No. 19 Texas (866, +2) captured the team title and UT’s Sophia Schubert (210, -6) won the individual crown.
“We have a few areas to work on before our next event,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “We struggled this week but if we clean up our golf management then we should be in good shape for the rest of the fall.”
Senior Hannah Wood led the Sooners in the final round by firing a 3-over 75, finishing the tournament tied for 50th place alongside fellow Sooner Kaitlin Milligan. The pair each totaled a three-round score of 230.
Senior Ana Ruiz tied for 31st at 225 while Junior Julienne Soo carded a 76 in the last round to finish at 227 and tie for 35th. Freshman Hannah Lee, making her first collegiate start, produced a 231.
The Sooners have finished in the top 10 of all three tournaments this season and have two events remaining in the fall portion of their schedule. Oklahoma takes part in the Alamo Classic in San Antonio, Texas, on Oct. 22-24 and the Battle at the Beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 3-5.
