NEW YORK – Back-to-back NAIA champion Oklahoma City University held the top spot in the Golf Word/Nike Golf NAIA men’s golf preseason coaches’ poll Wednesday.
The Stars, winners of three of the last four NAIA titles, received all 10 first-place votes to take the No. 1 spot. Grandview (Iowa) is second in the poll followed by fellow Sooner Athletic Conference member Texas Wesleyan, Cal State San Marcos and Johnson and Wales (Fla.).
OCU won the 2013 NAIA title by 28 strokes. Four Stars finished in the top-10 including individual NAIA champion Sondre Ronold who fired 69-69-74-71—283. Anthony Marchesani, James Marchesani, Michael Palmer and Ronold all landed on the all-tournament team for their efforts.
