The PGA South Central Section will soon have a new home office. Section members voted to spend roughly $600,000 on a new office that will be built just to the east of the current office near Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow.
Construction on the 3,900-square foot facility will begin this summer and should take six to eight months. The building will have more expansive offices, a meeting room, storage for the section’s tournament equipment and vehicles and other conveniences notably lacking at the current office.
Also at the recently concluded section meetings at the Doubletree Hotel in south Tulsa, members were addressed by recently re-elected PGA of America CEO Pete Bevaqua.
At Monday night’s award dinner, Southern Hills Director of Golf Cary Cozby accepted the South Central Section Professional of the Year award while long-time member and current general manager of Quail Creek Country Club in Oklahoma City Bob Philbrick was inducted into the section Hall of Fame. Cozby was introduced by his father, long-time Hillcrest Country Club professional Jerry Cozby, while former Midwest Section executive director Jon Jacobsen gave a verbose but heartfelt retrospective of Philbrick’s career.
