WICHITA, Kan. – The Rogers State men’s golf team won the Newman Fall Invitational by eight shots on Tuesday after posting a final round score of 296, the best team score of the day, for a three-round total score of 880 at Crestview Country Club.
The Hillcats had a five-shot lead and shot 296 Tuesday to expand the lead to eight and capture the team title, RSU’s first team win since Feb. 24, 2015 when it won the St. Mary’s Invitational.
RSU placed three in the top seven in the tournament. Hagen Barmasse led the group in second place, Alex Marsh placed sixth and Patrick Bart finished in seventh. Barmasse, a senior from Houston, Texas, finished second for the second time in three tournaments this season. In his final round, Barmasse fired a team-best 1-over-par 73 to go with rounds of 71-72 for a 54-hole total score of even-par 216. He finished with 10 birdies in 54 holes.
Marsh, a junior from Southampton, England, finished with a 76 after opening with a 70-73. Marsh totaled 11 birdies in his three rounds. Bart, a Burnham, England native, ended with 74 today for a score of 5-over-par 221 and the seventh place finish.
Eric Moore matched Barmasse’s with a 73 in the final round and finished at 12-over 228, one shot better than sophomore Ewen Delample.
Benjamin Arnett of St. Mary’s won the individual title at 2-under-par 214 as his final round of even-par 72 moved him by first day leader Wilfredo Sanchez of Texas A&M-Commerce. The Hillcats return to action in two weeks at the Midwestern State Invitational on Oct. 17-18 at Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.
