Rogers State’s Eastin tied for lead in St. Edwards Invitational, NSU in eighth

AUSTIN, Texas. – Rogers State junior Mica Eastin is in a three-way tie for the lead after one round of the St. Edward’s Invitation on Monday at Onion Creek Golf Club. The Hillcats rank ninth as a team in a field of 15 teams with a score of 310 in the first round.

Eastin, a junior from Carrollton, Texas, fired a 2-over-par 72 on the par 70 course to tie for second with Glory Jangthongsiri of West Texas A&M and Brittany LaPadula of Florida Tech. Eastin totaled three birdies today in her round and was 1-under-par on par 3s. Eastin also was 1-under-par on the par 5s, tying for the best performance.
 
Junior Kina Boone ranks in the top 20 as she is currently tied for 13th place after a round of 5-over-par 75. She was the best in the field in Par 4 scoring at even par. The Choctaw, Oklahoma native finished with two birdies and 12 pars in her round today.
 
Senior Raquel Trevino finished with a first-round score of 81 to sit in 51st place. One shot back of her was Stirling Phillips as she carded a score of 82. Elizabeth McCloskey finished with a round of 85.
 
The Northeastern State women’s golf team is in eighth place after the first round. The RiverHawks shot 29-over-par 309 to land one stroke back of a three-way tie for fifth between Western Washington, Sonoma State and Arkansas Tech.

This is the first tournament of the spring for NSU, which won its last three tournaments of the fall season.

True freshman Kelsey Lumpkin tied her career low with a 74 to land in a tie for 11th. She has now shot 74 in each of her last four rounds.

Senior Charter Lawson is tied for 24th at 7-over 77, while true freshman Ebba Moberg is one stroke back in a tie for 31st. Junior Baylee Price shot 10-over 80 to land at T-42, while true freshman Halie Wright is one stroke behind Price in a tie for 51st.

Northeastern State will begin Tuesday’s final round with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
