FORT SMITH, Ark. – Southern Nazarene concluded the final round of the Lions Classic in fourth place, and also had four players finish inside the top 25. The Crimson Storm finished one shot behind second place as a team with an 859 tournament total.
Ryan Roberts finished right where he started at the Hardscrabble Country Club Tuesday, as he carded an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for seventh place with a 211 total for the tournament. Rhett Bechtel posted a 72 in his final round, as he finished in a tie for 12th with his 214 total. Ondrej Melichar bounced back from his second round 75 yesterday to shoot a 71 in his final round. He tied for 18th place with a 217 tournament total. Preston Lovett finished in a tie for 23rd at 220, and Dylan Igo tied for 32nd with his 223 total.Midwestern State’s Jared Baker fired another two-under par 68 to take home the individual title, edging Chris Eckes from Arkansas-Fort Smith by two shots. Midwestern State also took home the team title, as it won by an impressive 21 strokes with an 832 total. St. Mary’s (TX) and Arkansas-Fort Smith tied for second with an 858, one stroke ahead of the Crimson Storm.
Rogers State finished in sixth place with a score of 874, two strokes ahead of seventh place Dallas Baptist.
Senior Hagen Barmasse fired a 2-over par 72 to finish 2-over 212 and in ninth place. The Houston, Texas native was third best among the 58 player field in par five scoring shooting five-under par for the weekend averaging 4.44 strokes.
Eric Moore finished tied for 21st at 219 (69-71-79). Alex Marsh finished two strokes back with a 221 tied for 27th place.
Rogers State returns to competition on April 23-25 at Horseshoe Bay’s Apple Rock Course for the Heartland Conference Tournament in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
Rogers State women place second
FORT SMITH, Ark. – With a 320, the second best team score of the day, the Rogers State women’s golf team remained in second place in the final day of play at the Hardscrabble Invitational Tuesday at Hardscrabble Country Club.
RSU’s Mica Eastin claimed her fifth top-five finish of the season, placing second individually afire rounds of 71-73-76. Kina Boone secured a top 10 finish with a 78 for a 231 total, good for 10th place. Sydney Murray carded a 76 in the third round and was 11th at 232.
Stirling Phillips finished tied for 16th place with a 236 (76-85-75) while Mariana Flores finished tied in 18th after carding a 75 in the final round for a 238 tournament total.
St. Mary’s took home the team tournament title at 886 while the Rattlers Allison Howarth claimed individual medalist honors shooting 219 including a 72 Tuesday. RSU finished 27 strokes in front of third place and host UA Fort Smith.
Rogers State will travel to Horseshoe Bay, Texas on April 23-24 for the Heartland Conference Tournament at Horseshoe Bay’s Apple Rock Course.
