MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – Southern Nazarene shaved 15 shots off its second round score, as it closed its final round Tuesday with a 293 at the Southern Bancorp Invitational. That helped the Storm to finish in third place as a with an 891 three-round total.
The Crimson Storm had four players finish the tournament inside the top 20 and one inside the top 10. Ryan Roberts carded a final round 74, as he finished in a tie for eighth place with his 222 total. One shot behind Roberts, Dylan Igo posted a 223 total with his final round 74 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 13th. Preston Lovett closed with a 76, and finished in a tie for 15th place with his 224. Ondrej Melichar shot a one-over par 73 Tuesday, as he finished in a tie for 19th at 226. Rhett Bechtel rounded out the top five with a team-low 72 in his final round, closing him in a tie for 30th at 232. The Crimson Storm’s Jacob Prenticealso participated as an individual in the tournament and he finished in a tie for 27th, as he posted a 231 total for the three rounds.
The host Henderson State took home the team title, as it won with an 883. The Reddies finished eight strokes ahead of the Crimson Storm. Missouri Southern State took second with an 887. Arkansas-Monticello finished six strokes behind SNU and finished fourth. Henderson State’s Drew Greenwood also took the home individual title as he defeated Missouri Western State’s Patrick McCarthy in a one-hole playoff. The pair each shot an impressive 214 for the tournament.
