Hearne closed his illustrious career at Southern Nazarene with a fourth place finish at the NCAA National Championship. He became the first student-athlete at SNU to reach a national championship and set the school-record for most under par at -3. This year he recorded a 71.50 stroke average on the yea, placed second three times, third four times, fourth twice and fifth just once. He posted six rounds in the sixties this year and was named the Great American Conference Player of the Year for the second straight year.

The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history’s greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf. Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Awards in 1988. The Nicklaus Award is annually given to the top collegiate men’s golfer in Divisions I, II, III, the NAIA and the NJCAA.
