Broken Arrow – Brian Soerensen, PGA Head Golf Professional at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond, was selected for the Section’s highest honor bestowed on a PGA Member as the 2014 South Central PGA Golf Professional of the Year.

Soerensen, a graduate of the New Mexico State University Professional Golf Management Program has been the head golf professional at KickingBird Golf Club since 1997. During his tenure at KickingBird, Soerensen has twice been awarded the Section’s Junior Golf Leader Award and was also the Section’s Golf Professional of the Year in 2006 and 2012.

Soerensen is in his last term as South Central Section President, a role that he has held the past three years.  During Soerensen’s presidency, the South Central PGA has seen tremendous progress in its growth of the game initiatives.

Soerensen, along with past and present board members, helped expand an already successful junior golf program and introduced PGA Junior League Golf into several facilities in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Southern Kansas, thus providing more playing opportunities fo r juniors of all ages.

He and the board were also instrumental in stabilizing the Section’s financial condition and developing the Section’s new Golf Pass Program.  An area he is the most proud of and sees the greatest potential in is the Section’s Foundation.
