Son loses first-round match in U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship

Yujeong Son of Norman was upset Wednesday in the first round of match play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 19 holes by Madison Caldwell of Milton, Ga.

It may be the last USGA event for Son as an amateur. The 17-year-old has announced her intention to skip college and turn professional this fall.

Complete results from the first round of match play at The Golf Club of Tennessee are below.

The Round of 32 will begin Thursday at 7 a.m. with tee times running through 9:30 a.m. Live action will be streamed on usga.org from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. CT. The Round of 16 will begin at 1 p.m. with matches running through 2:10 p.m. FS1 will broadcast the action from 3 -6 p.m. CT. The quarterfinals will be contested Friday afternoon.
