Son makes first cut on Symetra Tour

Former Oklahoma junior standout Yujeong Son made her first cut on the Symetra Tour last week, finishing tied for 37th in the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout.

Son, whose family lived in Norman during her golf formative years but has since returned to South Korea, had missed the cut in her first four events on the LPGA developmental tour.

Son won the Class 6A state championship the one year she competed and was a three-time Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur champion, never losing a match. She rarely was bested in high school or on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour and won the OGA Junior Girls State Amateur in 2017 and 2018.
