Oklahoma women’s golf picked up its second top-five finish of the season Tuesday, claiming fifth at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The Sooners, who entered the day in seventh place, climbed two spots after shooting an even-par 288 in the final round of the 54-hole tournament.

Oklahoma shot a three-round score of 873 (+9) at the par-72, 6,450-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club while No. 1 Arkansas took the tournament crown with an 842.

“We had a really good front nine today but struggled down the stretch,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “There are a few things we need to keep working on and clean up before we finish our fall schedule next week.”

Junior Julienne Soo captured her third top-10 finish of the year, shooting a 68 (-4) in Tuesday’s round to tie for ninth place with a 2-under 214. Soo boasts nine top-10 finishes in her career, all of which have come in her last 14 tournaments.

After opening the week with a 3-over 75 on Sunday, senior Hannah Wood bounced back with scores of 73 and 72 the next two days to tie for 21st with a 220 total.

Senior Ana Ruiz, freshman Kaitlin Milligan and freshman Hannah Lee all tied for 41st with final 54-hole scores of 224.

Connie Jaffrey of Kansas State won the individual title by finishing 9-under with a 207.

The Sooners close out their fall schedule next week when they head to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for the Battle at the Beach. The three-day tournament tees off Friday, Nov. 3.
