The No. 7 Oklahoma men’s golf team heads into Tuesday’s final round in second place at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-71, 7,017-yard Witch Hollow course at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.
The Sooners finished the second round with a 277 (-7), putting their 36-hole total at 549 (-19). Stanford leads OU by two shots at 547 (-21) heading into third round. Duke and Florida are both tied for third place at 555 followed by Vanderbilt at 557 (-11) in fifth.
“Another very solid day for our guys,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We’ve put ourselves in a position to have a chance to go win the tournament tomorrow. The guys feel good and we are excited about the opportunity.”
Sophomore Riley Casey leads the Sooners, holding a tie for sixth place at 6-under 136. Casey posted a career-low 4-under 67 during the second round, closing his day out with an eagle on No. 17 before picking up a birdie at No. 18. The sophomore shot -5 and was bogey-free on the back nine.
Junior Brad Dalke is tied for ninth place after firing a 69 on Monday to push his 36-hole total to 137. Dalke started out the day with four birdies on the first five holes and completed the round with his sixth of the day on No. 18. The Norman, Okla., native has recorded a team-best five rounds in the 60s this season.
Junior Blaine Hale is currently in a tie for 13th place. The junior shot 74 in the second round to bring his two-day total to 138.
Sophomore Garett Reband remained at even-par for the event, shooting a 71 on Monday. Reband is tied for 31st place going into the final round.
Senior Grant Hirschman progressed on Monday, recording a 70. Hirschman holds a share of 39th at 143 (+1) through 36 holes.
The final round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational will begin at 11:40 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning. OU will tee off on hole No. 1.
