Sooners struggle on first day of Betsy Rawls Invite

AUSTIN, Texas – The 20th-ranked Oklahoma women’s golf team sits in 12th place after playing 36 holes Monday at The Betsy Rawls in Austin, Texas. The Sooners shot a combined two-round score of 596 (+20) at the par-72, 6,491-yard University of Texas Golf Club.

No. 19 Texas leads the 15-team field after shooting 568 (-8) and is 13 strokes ahead of second-place No. 3 Arizona State (581, +5).

“We had a disappointing first day but have a chance to finish strong tomorrow,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell.

Senior Ana Ruiz is tied for 25th place after leading the team with a two-round total of 147 (+3).

Freshman Kaitlin Milligan sunk the first eagle of her collegiate career on the 359-yard, par-4 15th hole. Milligan’s eagle helped her bounce back from a morning round score of 78 (+6) to shoot an even-par 72 in the afternoon. The freshman is tied for 42nd after carding a 150 (+6).

Junior Julienne Soo and freshman Hannah Lee both recorded a 36-hole score of 151 (+7) and senior Hannah Wood ended the day with a 155 (+11).
