Sooners tie for sixth in Nike Collegiate at Colonial

The No. 2 Oklahoma men’s golf team tied for sixth place at the Nike Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at the par-70, 7,204-yard Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Sooners turned in their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting 281 (+1) to finish with a three-day total of 856 (+16). The event featured eight teams ranked inside the top 25 of the latest Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

Duke won the event with a three-day total of 838 (-2), the only team in the field to finish under par. Vanderbilt took second place at 844 (+4), while Wake Forest posted a three-day total of 846 (+6) to finish third. Clemson’s 54-hole total of 847 (+7) was good enough for fourth place, while Texas earned sole possession of fifth place at 850 (+10).

Senior Blaine Hale was OU’s best finisher, tying for 21st place at 213 (+3). The Dallas, Texas, native carded a 71 (+1) during Tuesday’s final round.

For the second straight day, junior Riley Casey posted OU’s best round and finished the day with a 68 (-2) to bring his 54-hole total to 214 (+4), tying for 23rd place. Casey recorded three birdies during Tuesday’s action.

Juniors Quade Cummins and junior Garett Reband shared 34th place at 218 (+8). Cummins posted his best round of the tournament with a 68 (-2) during the final round. Reband carded a 74 (+4) during Tuesday’s action.

Senior Brad Dalke finished in a tie for 43rd with a three-day total of 220 (+10), recording a 74 (+4) on Tuesday.
