KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association named Marla Souvannasing Women’s Golfer of the Week Wednesday following the University of Central Oklahoma senior’s third-place finish at the Lindenwood Fall Invitational this week.
Souvannasing shot a 147 in the Bronchos’ final tournament of the fall to help UCO to a third-place team finish. Her 1-over 72 in the second round was the low round of the day Tuesday in the 76-player field. Souvannasing was just one shot behind co-medalists Maxi Roth and Ares Boira of Missouri-St. Louis.
“Marla had a really good fall,” UCO head women’s golf coach Michael Bond said. “But really, she’s had a great career. This is the level that she plays at. She’s always a contender.”
Souvannasing has finished third in each of the last three tournaments. The Tulsa, Okla. native and two-time All-American has finished in the top-20 in all five fall tournaments, and in 41 of 42 career tournaments at UCO. Souvannasing has eight career wins.
Central Oklahoma returns to the course in March. The Bronchos are scheduled to play in the St. Edward’s Invite on Feb. 19, 2018 in Austin, Texas.
