Staggs makes bid to repeat in OGA Stroke Play

Colton Staggs shot a 4-under-par 68 in the second round to move into a tie with Sam Johnston of Edmond after two rounds of the 54-hole Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club.

Staggs, who this spring completed his eligibility at the University of Tulsa, won the event in 2014 at Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island. Johnston will be a senior this fall at Oklahoma Christian. He is a two-time NCAA Division II All-American and has won six collegiate tournaments.

Conrad Walcher of Oklahoma City is third, two shots back at 141 after rounds of 70-71. First-round leader Eli Armstrong shot 74 and is fourth, three shots back at 142, while Garrison Mendoza of Clinton is tied with Mason Horner of Argyle, Texas, in fifth at 144.
