State golfers giving chase in Tour second stage events

Former University of Oklahoma golfer Hunter Haas leads several state golfers after the first round of the second stage of Tour qualifying at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.

 Haas shot a 5-under 67 in the first round and is tied for second. The top 21 and ties will move on to the third and final stage. There are three qualifying tournaments going on simultaneously through Friday. Complete scores can be found here.

Also competing in McKinney are Ian Davis of Edmond and Matt Mabrey of Tulsa, tied for 11th with opening 69s. Stephen Carney of Tulsa shot 70, former OU golfer Michael Gellerman shot 71, Talor Gooch of Midwest City shot 73 and Oklahoma City native and former Southern Nazarene golfer Blake Trimble shot 73 as well. Jason Meece of Newcastle shot 79.

In the second stage event at The Clubs of Kingwood in Kingwood, Texas, former TU golfer Chris Worrell and former OU golfer Michael Schoolcraft are tied for 20th after opening with rounds of 70. James Marchesani of Oklahoma City shot 71 while Charlie Saxon of Tulsa and OU shot 73. Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City and TU opened with a 76.
