Stites has share of lead going into final round of Oklahoma Open

Amateur Ty Stites, who finished seventh in Class 4A this spring for the Sallisaw Black Diamonds, shot a second-round of 2-under 68 to move into a tie with former University of Kansas golfer Chris Gilbert of McKinney, Texas, entering the final round of the Oklahoma Open at Oak Tree Country Club.

Stites and Gilbert are tied at 6-under 134, with Nathan Hughes of Bartlesville, the 2013 Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur champion, a stroke back at 5-under 135.

Also well within striking distance at 4-under 136 are Kyle Robbins of Bedford, Texas, Ryan Grider of Lewisville, Texas and former University of Central Oklahoma golfer Josh Creel of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
