SWOSU, NSU trail Harding at Hillcrest CC

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Northeastern State men’s golf team found itself in a tie for fourth place following the opening two rounds of the 17th Annual NSU Men’s Golf Classic, which is being contested at the par-71, 6,607-yard Hillcrest Country Club.

The RiverHawks carded rounds of 298 and 299 Monday to land at 29-over-par 597. NSU is tied with Harding (307-290) and is eight strokes back of leader Henderson State (296-293).

Arkansas Tech sits second at 23-over 591 (299-292), and Southwestern Oklahoma State is third at 26-over 594 (296-298).

Junior Tate Williamson is NSU’s low man following the first two rounds. He is tied for sixth at 3-over 145 (72-73). Older brother Brent Williamson is two strokes back and is tied for 10th after carding scores of 74 and 73. Junior Marc Johnson is tied for 27th at 10-over 152 (75-77), and true freshman is T-36 at 11-over 153 (77-76) playing in his first collegiate tournament. Redshirt freshman Justin Allenback is 14-over 156 (78-78) and is in a tie for 48th.

Redshirt freshman Casey Paul is competing as an individual and is tied for 60th at 17-over 159 (79-80). Junior Tayler Morse-Cherry is also playing as a medalist and landed in a tie for 63rd at 17-over 159 (79-80).

Drew Greenwood of Henderson State fired a 5-under 66 in the opening round and leads the individual standings by five strokes. He shot 5-under 137 (66-71).

The RiverHawks will begin teeing off in Tuesday’s final round at 8:45 a.m.
