SWOSU seventh, NSU 13th in Argonaut Invite

GULF BREEZE, Fla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State rallied for a seventh place finish at the Argonaut Invitational on Tuesday at Tiger Point Golf Club.

The tournament was won by Missouri-St. Louis, a team from the Midwest Region that SWOSU will see again at the Super Regional Championships in May. UMSL won the tourney by three strokes over St. Leo, who was paced by the individual champion Hugo Bernard.
Jake Duvall shot 74 and placed ninth overall. His three-round stroke total of 218 was two shots better than Marques Gomez, who had the low round of the tournament by a Bulldog with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday and finished tied for 12th. Stefan Idstam shot 227 with rounds of 76, 73 and 78 and tied for 33rd.
The Northeastern State men’s golf team finished 13th. The RiverHawks shot their lowest score of the tournament in Tuesday’s final round to land at 65-over-par 929 (312-310-307).

No. 18 Missouri-St. Louis won the event at 8-over 872 (283-293-296), while No. 3 Saint Leo finished runner-up at 11-over 875 (292-286-297) and No. 2 West Florida placed third at 15-over 879 (292-294-293). Delta State was fourth at 21-over 885 (293-287-305) and No. 10 Lee rounded out the top five at 25-over 889 (287-298-304).

Senior Brent Williamson shot par in his final round to vault up the leaderboard and land in a tie for 33rd at 11-over 227 (79-76-72). Junior Tate Williamson was one shot back at 12-over 228 (77-75-76) to finish at T-38. True freshman Garret McDaniel tied for 59th at 19-over 235 (84-75-76), and redshirt freshman Casey Paul was T-76 at 28-over 244 (77-84-83). Junior Marc Johnson finished solo 80th at 33-over 249 (79-86-84).

Northeastern State will now prepare for the MIAA-sanctioned SBU Invitational, which will be held April 11-12 at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Missouri.
