Best known for her LPGA-record 48 victories, along with three major championships, Nancy Lopez was one of the most prominent faces in women’s golf for years.
Her first victory came in 1978 during her spectacular rookie season when she won nine tournaments in all, including five in a row. Her last pro victory came in 1997.
Yet before she set the LPGA on fire, Lopez was a star in her two seasons at the University of Tulsa, winning 11 of the 19 tournaments she played.
This Sunday, Lopez will be inducted into the Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame for her efforts and for the positive attention she brought to Oklahoma golf through her connection to Tulsa.
