TU freshman Tseng tied for lead in Lady Paladin Invitational
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tulsa freshman Lorena Tseng sits in a first-place tie after opening round play at the Lady Paladin Invitational Friday. Tseng shot a four-under par 68 to tie Haylee Harford of host Furman for the individual lead at the par-72 Furman University Golf Course.
As a team, Tulsa is in a 9th place tie with fellow American Athletic Conference member USF with a score of 11-over par 299. Host Furman leads the field with a score of 283, followed by North Florida (287), Kennesaw State (290), Coastal Carolina (293) and Augusta University (295) rounding out the top-5 teams.
Tseng, beginning the day on hole 10, birdied the par-5 11th hole and played even on the final seven holes of her front-nine. She started her back-nine solidly with a birdie on the par-4 first hole and then knocked in birdie putts on holes No. 5 and No. 7, both par 4’s. Tseng went thru the 18 holes today bogey-free.
Sophomore Taylor Dobson, a local talent from Broken Arrow (Okla.) High School, is next for the Hurricane in a 24thh palce tie after turning in a 2-over par score of 74.
Rounding out the Tulsa team were freshman Shaelee Scarberry in 65th place with a score of 78, followed by senior Olivia Jackson and freshman Jasmine Zhang tied for 74th place with rounds of 79.
Second round action takes place on Saturday, while the tournament concludes on Sunday.
