TU women move up to fifth as Tseng takes ninth and Scarberry 17th

DENVER, Colo. – The Tulsa women’s golf team finished in 5th place and freshman Lorena Tseng placed 9th individually at the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Hurricane finished the 54-hole event with a final round 287 for an 885 final score at the par-72 Highlands Ranch Golf Course.

Tseng carded a final round 3-under par 69 and moved from 24th place at the start of the day to 9th place with a 2-over par score of 218. Tseng has now placed among the top-10 in her first three collegiate tournaments. Fellow freshman ShaeLee Scarberry also turned in her best round of the tournament with a 1-under par 71 and finished in 17th place with a 221 total, her best performance of the year and her second top-20 finish.

Tulsa senior Johanna Samuelsson finished in 24th place with a 3-round score of 223 after turning in her second straight day of 1-over par 73. Sophomore Taylor Dobson placed 50th with a score of 299 and senior Olivia Jackson finished in 59th place with a 230 total score.

Colorado State claimed the team title, leading from start to finish, as the Rams had a 4-under par 860 behind Ellen Secor’s medalist score of 3-under par 213 total.

Tulsa will be in action next at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Oct. 21-23, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
