Tulsa finishes seventh at Irish Creek

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Tulsa men’s golf team jumped three spots on Sunday to finish tied for seventh-place at the Irish Creek Collegiate tournament at The Club at Irish Creek’s par-71 course. Sebastian Smith was the top finisher for the Hurricane after a season-best single round score of 68 and a season-low 54-hole score of 214. The sophomore finished tied for 12th-place.

Senior Colton Staggs counted a 217 total over the three rounds and finished tied for 23rd-place and fellow senior Matt Mabrey was just behind him at 218 with a share of 28th-place.

Francisco Yanez finished with 220 and tied for 35th-place and Matthew Marquez totaled 232.

Fellow American Athletic Conference member 17th-ranked South Florida (853) overtook No. 24 North Florida (854) on Sunday to win the team title.

Up next the Hurricane will head to Lecanto, Fla. for the American Championships on April 26-28.
