Tulsa Men’s golf team in seventh place after one round

Tulsa Men’s Golf Team in 7th Place after One Round at The American Championships
Lecanto, Fla. – The Tulsa men’s golf team is in seventh place in the nine-team field following opening round action Sunday at the American Athletic Conference Championships. The Golden Hurricane carded a score of 300 at the par-72 Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch.
 
Freshman Jack Knoesel and junior Matthew Marquez opened with rounds of two-over par 74 and are tied for 20th place. Freshman Marc Kepka is one stroke behind with a first round score of 75. Sophomore Francisco Yanez is in 33rd place after a round of 77 and red-shirt freshman Sam Humphreys is in 40th place with an opening round 79.
 
Defending champion South Florida leads the field with a three-under par score of 285, two strokes ahead of second-place East Carolina. ECU’s Wesley Conover and Temple’s Brandon Matthews share the individual lead with scores of three-under par 69.
Second round action takes place on Monday with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday. Live scoring can be found at www.Golfstat.com or on the Golfstat mobile applications.
