Tulsa sixth in Columbia Regional Preview

Columbia, Mo –– The Tulsa men’s golf team sits in sixth-place after two rounds on Monday at the Columbia Regional Preview. The Hurricane carded rounds of 298 and 287 for a 585 total at the par 72 The Club at Old Hawthorne.
 
Tulsa senior Logan McCracken is in ninth-place overall after scoring rounds of 74 and four-under par 68 for a two-under par 142 total. In his second round of the day, McCracken had birdie putts on holes 4, 8, 13, 14 and 16, with his only bogey coming on the par-5 9th hole.
 
Host Missouri jumped out to a 36-hole lead with a 14-under par score of 562. The Tigers carded a second round 16-under par 272 to finish out the day eight strokes ahead of second place Austin Peay (570). Iowa State (577), San Francisco (579) and Kansas State (581) round out the top-5 teams.
 
Tulsa junior Matt Mabrey had an opening even-par round of 72, while finishing the day with a score of 75 on his second 18 holes for a 147 total and 24th place. Senior Mark Mumford turned in a two-under par 70 in second round play after carding an opening 78 on his first 18 holes. Mumford and junior Colton Staggs are tied for 29th place with scores of 148, as Staggs carded rounds of 74-74.
 
Mumford had a wild second round with five birdies, all coming on his first nine holes, five bogeys and an eagle on the par-5 10th hole to go 4-under for the round. But, Mumford suffered a bogey on the par-4 13th hole and another bogey on the par-3 16th hole to end the day with two-under for the round and four-over par for the day.
 
Tulsa’s Cody Kent is in 57th place after rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total.

A pair of Missouri golfers sits one-two in the individual standings as Emilio Cuartero carded a nine-under 135 today, while teammate Euan Walker had a five-under par 139.

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
