Tulsa trails field at Windon Memorial

Glencoe, Ill. — The Tulsa men’s golf team is in 14th place following the opening round at the Windon Memorial. The Hurricane shot a score of 302 at the par 71 Lake Shore Country Club, while the second of two rounds scheduled for Sunday was suspended due to darkness.
 
Tulsa’s Francisco Yanez turned in Tulsa’s best opening round with a score of 74 for 44th place, while Matthew Marquez is one stroke back in 51st place with a score of 75. A trio of freshmen are next for the Hurricane, including red-shirt freshman Sam Humphreys with a score of 76 and true freshmen Jack Knoesel at 77 and Marc Kepka at 80.

Purdue holds a one-shot lead over Michigan in the team race with a first round score of 281, as only three shots separate the top-5 teams — Purdue, Michigan, Ohio State, Princeton and host Northwestern.
