UCO golfers Kline and Bensch sweep MIAA honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma swept Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association golf player of the week honors Wednesday, with Katie Bensch earning the women’s award and Eric Kline the men’s.

Bensch was co-medalist at the season-opening Central Region Fall Preview in Olathe, Kan. with a three-over-par 147 total.  The Broken Arrow senior opened with a 74 and then shot a final-round 73 that was the best score of the day to tie for first in winning her first college title.

UCO cruised to a nine-shot win in the team race, collecting its seventh tournament title in 13 outings.

Kline had a dominating outing at the Lincoln Invitational in Camdenton, Mo. in capturing the individual title by eight strokes.  The Ponca City junior had rounds of 68-67-70 for a sizzling eight-under-par 205 total in winning the second tournament of his career.

The Bronchos beat Central Missouri in a playoff to earn the team title in the first tournament of the year.
