UCO wins Central Region Preview, SWOSU second, NSU fifth

OLATHE, KAN. – The University of Central Oklahoma women’s golf team won the first tournament of the year Wednesday after shooting a two-day score of 611 at the Central Region Preview at Prairie Highlands Golf Club in Olathe, Kan.

The Bronchos shot 307 on Wednesday in the second round to finish 14 strokes ahead of Southwestern Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech. Shi Qing Ong of Missouri Western won the individual title.

Michael Bond’s team was paced by freshman Sydney Roberts.

"I couldn’t be more proud of this group and especially Sydney firing an even-par-72 and low round of the day," Bond said. "We’ve got to stay focused and carry this with us to the next tournament."
