Volunteers needed for upcoming USGA U.S. Girls Championship

The United States Golf Association’s U.S. Girl’s Junior Championship (July 20-25, 2015) is the pinnacle of junior amateur golf.  156 of the world’s best female golfers under the age of 18, representing 13 countries and numerous states,  will compete at Tulsa Country Club to be crowned national champion.  This is a large scale event that cannot happen without the support of the local community!  Tulsa Country Club and Tulsa Sports Commission are looking for volunteers of all ages to assist before, during, and after the National Championships.

Schedule of Events:

Saturday, July 18 – Sunday, July 19           18 hole Practice Rounds
Monday, July 20 – Tuesday, July 21           2 Rounds of Stroke Play
Wednesday, July 22                                    Match Play begins with a reduced field of 64 players
Thursday, July 23 – Friday, July 24           Match Play continues, eliminating half the field with each round
Saturday, July 25                                       36 hole Final Match

We need Tulsans like you to help us make this event a success!  Volunteers will receive an exclusive U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship uniform golf shirt and cap or visor, as well as complimentary meals.  Volunteers working a minimum of 2 shifts will receive the opportunity to play one round at Tulsa Country Club for only $25, including cart.   Here’s how you can help:

Scoreboard Assistant:  Responsible for assisting the official scorer at the scoreboard (i.e., reading and adding scores, hanging score sheets) during the first two days of stroke play and the first two rounds of match play; relaying 9-hole scoring information from the ninth and 18th holes to the scoreboard during stroke play; delivering completed scorecards from the ninth and 18th scoring tents to the scoreboard during stroke play; assisting USGA staff with real time scoring as needed.

Status Board Attendant:  Posts scoring updates on golf course leader boards during play.

Transportation Committee:  Professional shuttle transportation is provided for players from the airport to their hotel, as well as from the hotel to the golf course and back daily.  Transportation volunteers will be on site at the main terminals of Tulsa International Airport, Tulsa Country Club, and the host hotel of the players to man the shuttle stops and assist players and guests.
