Williamson top-five as NSU takes sixth in Coyote Classic

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Northeastern State men’s golf team finished in sixth place at the Coyote Classic, which was contested at the par-71, 6,528-yard Arrowhead Country Club.

The RiverHawks shot 300 in Tuesday’s final round to finish at 37-over-par 889 (302-287-300).

Sonoma State won the event at 12-over 864 (287-294-283), while California State-East Bay landed in second at 18-over 870 (299-280-291). Host California State-San Bernardino placed third at 19-over 871 (293-293-285), while Dixie State (25-over 887, 289-297-291) and Stanislaus State (32-over 884, 304-289-291) rounded out the top five.

Junior Tate Williamson registered his third career top-5 finish after firing a 2-over 215 (70-69-76). True freshman Garrett McDaniel earned a T-19 after carding 10-over 223 (77-71-75), and junior Marc Johnson vaulted up the leaderboard in Tuesday’s final round to finish in a tie for 28th at 13-over 226 (80-73-73).

Senior Brent Williamson tied for 40th at 17-over 230 (75-74-81), and redshirt freshman Justin Allenback landed in solo 68th at 35-over 248 (88-84-76).

The RiverHawks will now prepare for the Dave Falconer Classic, which will be held March 7-8 at Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville, Arkansas.
