Cameron wins Dallas Baptist Patriot Classic

IRVING, Texas – After finishing day one with a five stroke lead, the Aggies kept pace on day two to win the Dallas Baptist University Patriot Classic on Tuesday with a three round score of 868. This is CU’s second tournament win in a row as they won the Lions Classic a couple of weeks ago.

Cameron shot a 296 in round three, which was the third best score of the day. That score paired with their 288 and 284 in rounds one and two to give them the tournament win with a three stroke lead over the second place team Central Missouri and four strokes over third place Oklahoma Christian.

Bradley Ferrell carded a 77 in round three, but thanks to his sub 70 scores from round one and two, he placed third individually with a 214. Corey Bounds also carded a 214 and tied for third as he shot a round three 74 to go along with his pair of 70s in the first two rounds.

Cullen Stahl also shot a 74 in round three as he finished in 15th place overall with a 220 score, as teammate Zander Winston finished in 21st with a three round score of 222 after shooting a 72 in round three. Dylan McClure rounded out the Aggie five as he shot a 231 and finished in 51st after shooting a 76 in the third round.

Central Missouri finished with an 871, while Oklahoma Christian finished with an 872, Texas Wesleyan finished with an 880 and St. Edward’s rounded out the top-5 with an 883. The other two Lone Star Conference schools Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce finished in sixth and 11th.

DBU’s Garrett Fey finished the tournament in first individually with a 210 (67+71+72).

Cameron will take a week off before heading to Frisco, Texas for the LSC Championship that will take place April 20-21 at the Frisco Lakes Golf Course. 

Rogers State men’s golf team fired one of the best rounds of the day to move up two spots into eighth. Tanner Alder led RSU with a 1-under-par 71 moving up nine spots on the leaderboard over the final round going out in 34 before closing the front side with a 37. The senior finished in a tie for 15th place at 220. 

Rogers State plays in its final tune-up before the Heartland Conference Championship April 13-14 at the Oral Roberts Shootout held at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
