RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Gloria Choi has been named the Great American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after her latest performance at the NSU Golf Classic on Monday and Tuesday.

Choi’s consistent performance in both rounds of the tournament led her to a third-place finish overall, tied with teammate Elin Wahlin. In the first round of the tournament on Monday, Choi carded a 74 (+2) which put her in fourth place overall at the end of day one.

On Tuesday in the second and final round, the sophomore again scored a 74 on the day, moving up one spot on the leaderboards to third place with an overall stroke total of 144 (+4). Choi’s performance led SWOSU to a first-place finish in the tournament, beating out host school Northeastern State by one shot. Choi’s finish gives her the first top-five finish of the season, and the second top-ten finish of the year after finishing tied for sixth in the Central Region Preview a week ago.

• Baylee Price was honored as the MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Wednesday afternoon.

The reigning MIAA Golfer of the Year won her first tournament of the season Tuesday when she took home top honors at the 18th Annual NSU Women’s Golf Classic. This was the third time she has won her home event, and she extended her own school record to seven career tournament championships.

The WGCA All-American bested many of the top golfers from the region with a winning score of 2-over 146 (72-74) as she earned the sixth player of the week award of her career. She led Northeastern State to a second-place finish.

Price and the rest of the RiverHawks are next scheduled to compete at the MIAA Fall Preview Sept. 26-27 at Keth Memorial Golf Club in Warrensburg, Missouri.
