Cowgirls open eighth in Annika Intercollegiate

ORLANDO, Fla. – Oklahoma State senior Linnea Johansson birdied four of the final eight holes to move herself and the Cowgirls into eighth place after the opening round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.

With two rounds still to play at the fall’s premier tournament the No. 3 ranked Cowgirls are 2-under par and 12 strokes behind first-round leader South Carolina. Gamecock Katelyn Dambaugh fired an 8-under 64 to top the individual leaderboard by two strokes after 18 holes at the Reunion Resort.

Currently the No. 8 ranked player in college golf, Johansson is just five strokes behind Dambaugh thanks to her 3-under 69. The Cowgirls was 3-under on the day’s par-5s. Johansson led the nation in birdies in 2015-15 and is off to a great start this year with 24 through just four competitive rounds.

Alexis Sadeghy carded birdies on 14 and 15 to open with a 2-under 70. The junior is tied for 14th place and is just six strokes off the individual lead.

Kenzie Neisen posted a 1-over 73 and Isabella Deilert wasn’t far off with a 2-over 74. That duo will enter Monday’s second round tied for 35 and 47th place, respectively.

Chih-Min Chen is tied for 58th place at 6-over 78. Chen will get the second round underway for the Cowgirls at 7 a.m. Central on Monday.
