About the Kendall Whittier Inc. Golf Charity Tournament

Our first annual Golf Fore Groceries will be held in on June 1, 2019 at the beautiful Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso, Okla. Our goal is to raise a net of $10,000 and to fill the course with 72 golfers. Your involvement will help ensure the success of our event. Put together a team of friends. Or encourage your business to be a sponsor and field a team with customers. If you can’t get away to golf, send us a contribution in support of fulfilling our mission. By working together, we can fill the Bailey Ranch Golf Club with KWI supporters, which will enable us to continue to nourish neighbors in need. All funds raised will benefit Kendall Whittier Inc. and our programs.

About Kendall Whittier Inc.

Kendall Whittier, Inc. established in 1968, is a small nonprofit organization in Tulsa, Okla. focused on feeding hungry neighbors. We are a home-grown community organization incorporating self-sufficiency for our neighbors through food security, nutritional health, and well-being. Neighborhood families suffer from many of the challenges caused by systemic poverty, including poor nutrition and food insecurity. Our overall objectives are to improve the quality of our neighbors’ lives by meeting their needs for emergency food services and by providing access to healthy foods both through outreach efforts and hands-on educational experiences. We provide assistance through programs that target specific basic needs: Community Development and OutreachEmergency Food Pantry and our Community Gardens. A major part of our Community Development and Outreach program, is our Partners in Education efforts at neighborhood Public Elementary Schools where we provide volunteer and financial support for their annual Holiday Gift Bag programs, serving 1800 children in 2017. Our Emergency Food Pantry has been in continuous operation since 2000. The only delivery pantry in Tulsa, we provide, at no cost, one week’s worth of groceries for a family or individual in need up to four times per rolling 12 month period. Our Community Gardens Programs are comprised of three organically grown community gardens that operate in Kendall Whittier neighborhood. Two primarily serve as outdoor classrooms for students age 13 and under: GROW Teaching Garden and Sequoyah Elementary School Garden and our third, Tipton Community Garden, operates as a traditional community garden in which participants adopt and tends garden plots. Our programs have changed and evolved during the past 50 years but the basic needs of the neighborhood have not and our commitment to be an agent for community improvement and empowerment remains.
