Warren, Ohio – All five Eagles shot at least 2-under par in Tuesday’s second round, leading Oklahoma Christian to a ten-shot lead over the rest of the field at the NCAA DII Men’s Golf Championships.

As a team, OC drained twenty-five birdies en route to a team score of 277 (-11), nine shots better than its score in the first round. The 277 is the fifth-lowest round score of the season for Oklahoma Christian, and the 11-under tied for its third lowest this season.

Alejandro Armijo had the low round of the day for the Eagles, turning in a 68 (-4) while knocking down five birdies and only one bogey. Armijo’s four-under-par brought his two-round total to three-under to jump to T10 on the individual leaderboard.

Exequiel Rodriguez finished the round three-under-par, carding a 69 on a card that featured five birdies. His -3 brought his two-day total to -6 and put him in a tie for fifth place, just two shots off the lead.

Mateo Pulcini, Oskari Nikku, and Santiago Villareal each recorded 70s during their second round. Pulcini and Nikku are each six shots off the lead at two-under over the tournament, and Nikku led the Eagles in birdies with six. Villareal had a monster turnaround carding the 70 after turning in an 81 yesterday, setting the tone today for OC’s dominance.

Wedneday’s round will, combined with the first two, determine the top eight teams and seeding seeding that will begin medal-match play on Thursday morning. On Thursday morning, the top eight will match up head-to-head by seeding, and the four winners will form the final four, who will play head-to-head by seed, and the two winners will form the championship matchup. That match will take place on Friday to determine the 2023 NCAA DII Men’s Golf National Champion.

The scores from the three rounds will also determine the individual national champion and assist in determining the 2023 NCAA DII All-Americans.

Oklahoma Christian’s third round will begin at 1:10 p.m. Eastern time, with Santiago Villareal leading the way again for the Eagles.
