ORU’s Acosta named Summit League Golfer of the Year

ELMHURST, Ill. – Oral Roberts women’s golfer Alejandra Acosta has been named The Summit League Women’s Golfer of the Year in a vote of the league’s head coaches it was announced Friday.

Acosta is a three-time all-conference selection but earned her first Golfer of the Year honor. She was named to the first team All-Summit League and The Summit League All-Tournament team and posted a stroke average of 74.7 for the season. She had seven top-10 finishes, including five top-five placements and a victory at the ORU Shootout. She tied a school record with a 67 in the ORU Shootout, and posted a 68 in the Jackrabbit Invitational March 16.

Acosta’s 74.7 stroke average is the second lowest in school history only behind recently inducted ORU Hall of Famer Pamela Ontiveros.  Acosta became the first ORU women’s golfer to earn Golfer of the Year since 2009.
