ERIN, Wis. — Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a 281 during its third round at Erin Hills Golf Course to earn its second consecutive runner-up finish.
The Cowboys’ 7-under score was the low round of the day at the par-72, 7,236-yard layout and gave OSU a 54-hole total of 853, 11-under. However, SMU used a closing 283 to finish at 851 and two strokes clear in the team race. UCLA was third at 857.
UCLA did produce the individual medalist in Jonathan Garrick, who posted a 69 to finish at 10-under 206 and two shots clear of a pair of players.
OSU junior Wyndham Clark shared runner-up honors with SMU’s Austin Smotherman after posting his second consecutive 68 to get to his 208 score. The second-place showing was the fourth for Clark during his collegiate career.
Senior Jordan Niebrugge carded his second consecutive 71 to finish at 5-under 211 and tied for fourth place. Niebrugge shared fourth with teammate Stratton Nolen, who competed as an individual. The sophomore closed with a 3-under 69 to move up the leaderboard.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura signed for his second 74 in a row to finish in a tie for 17th place at 217, while sophomore Brendon Jelley tied for 24th place at 220 after signing for his low round of the event, a 1-under 71.
Sophomore Sam Stevens also posted his low round of the event, finishing with a 71 to climb 16 spots into sole possession of 34th place at 224.
OSU also produced a pair of top-five finishes at The Firestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club.
Redshirt freshman Hayden Wood posted a closing 69 to finish at 6-under 210 and alone in fourth place, while freshman Zach Bauchou finished at 5-under 211 after signing for a 71 during his third round.
