The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team finished Sunday’s opening round of the 2015 Alamo Invitational tied for seventh place. The 14-team event is being played at the par-72, 6,450-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.

The Sooners, who carded a 303 (+15), finished 10 strokes behind tournament-leader and No. 20-ranked Florida (+5). No. 7 Arkansas (+6) is in second, while TCU and Texas Tech share third place with a 297 (+9).

Rylee Pedigo led Oklahoma, registering two birdies en route to a 74 (+2) in the round. The sophomore is tied for 19th place out of 78 competitors.

OU sophomore Hannah Wood recorded a 75 (+3) on Sunday and is tied for 22nd place, while junior Maggie Neece shares 30th place with a 76 (+4).

Sophomore Valerie Tanguay logged a 78 (+6) to share 51st after the first day, and sophomore Ana Ruiz is tied for 62nd place, shooting an 80 (+2).

"We did a lot of good stuff out there and we were able to capitalize early in our round," seventh-year OU Head Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "The conditions were really tough and we ran out of fuel at the end. We have two more rounds and we have to keep working hard."

The Sooners will tee off for Monday’s second round of the Alamo Invitational at 8:30 a.m. CT from hole No. 1.
