Scarberry, Chaney lead charge into WOGA State Amateur quarterfinals

Defending champion Shaebug Scarberry and low qualifier Reagan Chaney breezed through their opening matches in the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at Gaillardia Country Club Tuesday.

Chaney, of Ardmore, defeated Alyssa Wilson of Yukon 5 and 3 in the morning and dispatched Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame member Lee Ann Fairlie of Oklahoma City 4 and 3 in the afternoon as temperatures soared to around 107 degrees.

Scarberry, of Tuttle, rolled past Rebecca Davis of Broken Arrow 6 and 4 and Lilly Stanton of Jenks 5 and 3. She will face Gracie Doke of Tulsa, who defeated Hayden Meiser of Norman 5 and 4 then toppled Maddi Kamas of Ardmore 5 and 4.

Chaney will square off against Sarsh Sherrard of Oklahoma City in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Sherrard defeated Natalie Gough of Bixby 3 and 2 and Jaiden Gregston of Duncan 2 up.

Also advancing were Natalie Blonien of Altus, Sydney Hermann of Ponca City, Madison Odell of Owasso and Lilly Whitley of Edmond. Blonien knocked off WOGA Stroke Play and Mid-Amateur champion Michaela Dierinzo of Edmond in 19 holes in the afternoon.

Quarterfinals and semifinals will be Wednesday with the championship match at 8 a.m. Thursday. Complete results below.
