Three former TU players advance in Web.com Tour qualifying
Former University of Tulsa players enjoyed a successful day Friday as first stage qualifying tournaments for the 2016 Web.com Tour wrapped up.
At Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas, former TU players Chris Worrell of Jenks and Stephen Carney of Tulsa tied for sixth at 12-under par, safely advancing to second stage. The top 23 and ties moved on. Also advancing was Jason Meece of Newcastle, tied for 13th at 10 under.
Not as fortunate were Will Kropp of Edmond at 2-under, current Oklahoma Open champion Josh Creel at 1 under and Vilhelm Bogstrand of Edmond at 4 over.
Matt Mabrey, who finished his Tulsa career last spring, tied for 15th at a first stage event at The Woodlands near Houston to advance to second stage. Also making it through on the number was James Marchesani of Oklahoma City at even par. Not advancing was Cameron Meyers of Edmond, tied for 46th.

Two recent Web.com Tour graduates didn’t find much success this week in their first PGA Tour event. Rhein Gibson of Edmond and former OU player Abraham Ancer both shot 6-over and missed the cut in the Frys.com Open. Former Edmond resident Robert Streb also missed the cut at 2 over.
