Three Oklahomans advance in U.S. Junior qualifiers

Kaitlin Milligan and Yujeong Son, both of Norman, were two of the three qualifiers Monday on a difficult day at Karsten Creek and will advance to play in the U.S. Junior Girls Championship July 20-25 at Tulsa Country Club.

Kaitlyn Papp of Austin, Texas, shot a strong 73 to lead all qualifiers. Milligan shot 80 and Son 82. Son, the defending state amateur champion, survived a playoff with Katelyn Dunstan of Little Rock, who will be first alternate.

In the 36-hole boys qualifier, Lane Wallace of Yukon shot rounds of 75-79 to grab one of the two qualifying spots available. Jake Kuwitzky of McKinney, Texas, shot 80-76 to nab the second spot. Austin Eckroat (80-77) of Edmond and Tony Biata (79-78) of Owasso are the alternates. Both were a shot back at 157. 

The U.S. Junior Amateur is July 20-25 at Colleton River Plantation in Bluffton, S.C.
