TU duo, ORU trio named All-American Scholars
Coral Springs, Fla. – University of Tulsa women golfers Alex Haun and Nadia Majidizadeh were named Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, as it was announced today.
Haun, a junior in 2014-15, has a maintained 3.52 cumulative grade point average in exercise sports science, while the sophomore Majidizadeh has a 3.722 GPA in Spanish and international business. Fifteen previous Tulsa golfers have combined for 26 WGCA All-America Scholar awards.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. A total of 758 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor for the 2014-15 season.
The Oral Roberts women’s golf team had three golfers named to the 2014-15 WGCA All-American Scholar list. Paty Torres, Paola Aviles and Shinwoo Lee, all juniors for the Golden Eagles, were named to the list.
Aviles was named to The Summit League’s All-Academic team with a 3.63 GPA in finance, having finished runner-up at The Summit League Championship. Torres has a 3.62 GPA in media and a 77.0 stroke average, while Lee had a 77.7 stroke average and tied for fourth overall at the Jackrabbit Classic, and has the best GPA on the team among upperclassmen at 3.72 in international business.
