TU’s Majidizadeh takes fifth in Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, SC – The Tulsa women’s golf team finished in 11th place at the 20-team Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday, while Nadia Majidizadeh paced the Hurricane with a fifth-place performance. Majidizadeh turned in a final round 1-under par 71 and finished the with a 2-under par score of 214, while as a team the Hurricane had its best round of the tournament with a 4-over par 292 to finish the event with a total score of 895 at the par-72 Furman University Golf Course.

The senior from Tulsa’s Union High School began the day on the par-4 10th hole and was even-par after her first nine holes with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole and a bogey on the par-4 18th hole. After the turn, she birdied holes 2, 4 and 6 to take a 3-under par score into the final three holes, but bogeyed the last two holes of the day.

Freshman Greta Bruner had a 73 on Sunday and finished the tournament with a 15th place score of 1-over par 217.

Sophomore Johanna Samuelsson turned in a final round 74 and finished in 74th place with a 54-hole total of 232. Freshman Taylor Dobson finished the day at 76 and placed 85th overall with a score of 234, while sophomore Olivia Jackson carded her best round of the tournament with a 2-over par score of 74 to place 92nd with a total score of 238.

Texas won the team title by two strokes over host Furman, 853 (-11) to 855 (-9), while Texas’ Emilee Hoffman overtook Furman’s Alice Chen for a one-stroke victory, 210 (-6) to 211 (-5).

Tulsa will be in action next at the Yale Invitational, October 7-9, in New Haven, Conn.
