White Hawk hires new superintendent
Kevin Rokey has been hired as the new superintendent at White Hawk Golf Club in Bixby.
Rokey comes to White Hawk from LaFortune Park Golf Course in Tulsa, where he has been the second assistant since 2016. His background includes a seven-year stint as the superintendent at Blue Springs (Mo.) Country Club and he began his career as an intern at Colleton River Plantation GC in Bluffton, SC.
Rokey is originally from Sabetha, Kan., and received his Turf Management Certification from Rutgers University. He is a member of GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendent Association of America) and is a licensed chemical applicator in the State of Oklahoma.
Rokey and his wife of seven years Lisa have two daughters ages 3 and 1.
White Hawk owner Roger Rodich, who purchased the course this winter and vowed to upgrade maintenance standards, said he was impressed with Rokey’s enthusiasm and determination to restore White Hawk to a high level of conditioning.
“We had many strong and qualified candidates, but Kevin is just what we were looking for,” Rodich said.
