Wood picks up first professional victory at Colbert Charity Classic
Edmond’s Hayden Wood won for the first time as a professional, capturing the Colbert Charity Classic on the All Pro Tour at Colbert Hills in Manhattan, Kan. His 1-under 71 in the final round pushed his 72-hole total to 18-under, one shot better than Kyle Gaines.
The victory came with a $23,000 first-place payment and vaulted Woods to fourth place on the 2021 APT money list, just ahead of former Oklahoma State teammate Brendon Jelley. The overall leader is another former OSU teammate, Sam Stevens ($68,349). Woods became the fourth player from his college team to win on the APT, including Zach Bauchou, Stevens and Jelley.

Wood had finished second in several professional events before breaking through. He is a past OGA State Amateur Champion (2018), and Junior Amateur champion (2012 2013).
Bauchou and Trent Whitekiller of Sallisaw finished tied for fifth Saturday at 13-under while Jelley was a stroke back at 12-under in eighth place. Stevens, after shooting 8-under in the first round, shot just 1-under for his final 54 holes and finished in a tie for 17th. All of those players are in the field this week at the season’s final regular season event at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan. Following that most will be entering qualifying school to try to earn their cards on the Korn Ferry Tour for 2021-22.
