Riverhawks snap drought with tie for first in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Northeastern State landed two eagles and a birdie on the last hole to surge into a first-place tie at the Warrior Invitational.
The RiverHawks shot a tournament-low 291 on Tuesday and carded a 598 on the par-72, 7062-yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club. Northeastern State tied with McKendree and Washburn, with the win being the first since March 26, 2012 (Dave Falconer Classic – Danville, Ark.).
NSU coach Scott Varner said it was a relief and a joy to get the first title in nine largely successful years which have been punctuated with many top-three finishes and post-season berths but no wins.
Kaden Armstrong and Gabe Replogle shot 155 and were tied for 40th.
The RiverHawks will remain in Las Vegas and have a day off before playing in the Aliante Desert Classic on March 10-11.
