Defending champ Hermann edges Chaney to stay alive in WOGA State Amateur

A talented field of eight has moved into the quarterfinals of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at Stillwater Country Club.

Two of the round of 16 matches were of particular note for the luck of the draw matching high-powered opponents fairly early in the contest. In one, defending champion Sydney Hermann of Ponca City edged low qualifier Reagan Chaney of Ardmore 1 up. In the other, two-time defending WOGA Girls Junior Champion Natalie Blonien of Altus downed the winner of that event from three years ago, Jenni Roller of Tulsa, 5 and 3. Blonien was steady throughout while Roller was fighting a hook and made numerous early bogeys to fall behind.

Also advancing were Jaiden Gregston of Duncan and Ball State; Lucy Darr of Stillwater and Oklahoma State; Evyn Cannon of Edmond, who will be a freshman in high school this fall; Peyton Coburn of Bishop Kelley in Tulsa; Maddi Kamas of Oklahoma City University and Rylee Roberts of Edmond North.

The quarterfinal matches will pit Gregston against Hermann, who recently completed her collegiate career at Dalton State; Darr vs. Cannon; Blonien against Coburn and Kamas against Roberts. The semifinals will be played Wednesday afternoon and the finals are Thursday morning.

Here is the championship flight bracket along with links to all other brackets as well.
