A 72-hole first stage qualifying event for the PGA Tour begins Tuesday and continues through Friday at Golf Club of Muskogee. The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

The tournament is one of 11 first stage events held across the country. A field of 78 golfers will compete for over 20 spots to move on to second stage. The field includes eight players from Oklahoma, including Matt Mabrey of Sand Springs, Logan McCracken of Tulsa,  Jared Strathe of Owasso, Scott Newell of Tulsa, Tyson Reeder of Edmond, Grant Brown of Lawton, Johnathan Brightwell of Edmond and Danny Meaders of Collinsville.

The field also includes 2023 Oklahoma Open winner and former Oklahoma Sooner Blaine Hail of Richardson, Texas

McCracken, who like Mabrey played collegiately at the University of Tulsa, has probably advanced as far as any of the locals in his dreams of playing on the PGA Tour, having played in 15 events on the Korn Ferry Tour but only making one cut.

See the pairings and tee times for the event here. Live scoring will be here. To earn a PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour card for 2024, players would have to advance through a first and second stage event and compete at the Final Stage Dec. 14-17 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
